7175 2000-11-19 06:36:00 I've got a 8GB hard disk partitioned into 3 (C:, D: and E: ). On startup today I noticed that D: and E: weren't available in Explorer. C: is fine. All my data is on D: and E: and all my windows stuff is on C:. I'm running Win 98 SE. Nortons Disk Doctor said 'unable to read D: and E: make sure disk is in the drive and device driver is installed and valid'. Nortons Speed Disk said 'disk in drive D: ( and E: ) cannot be accessed, choose another'. Nortons System Doctor show drives D: and E: as 'busy'. In Explorer if I try to click on them it says 'not accessible, a device attached to the system is not functioning' and if I right click and choose properties it says 'used space 0 bytes, free space 0 bytes'. A Disk Error check comes back with 'scandisk can't check drive D: (or E:) because disk is not properly formatted or disk utility has locked it. Wait for utility to finish or format disk'. I haven't done anything to the disk, it was working fine yesterday, I shutdown and restarted today and bingo - it's like this. I haven't a clue as to what to do. All my data is unreachable. I don't understand why C: is ok but D: and E: won't allow me access. I have a Pentium II 350, 128 MB RAM, 8 GB drive, partitioned into 3 (C:, D: and E: ). Any help for this young Kiwi would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Guest (0)
