| 7214 | 2000-11-22 09:15:00 | Bought an 8.4GB Fujitsu Drive at D*** S****. Comes with 18*12cm scanty instruction sheet thatdoes little more than give the jumper settings. My 1995 Awrd BIOS was able to recognize it but when it went to do low level format, it took >12h and gave a huge bad sector count that I couldn't belive. FDisk OK. Then Format in W95 or DOS took >24h and I get 3.4% of bad sectors. Q1 What is a tolerable % bad sectors or do I take this disk back? Q2 I had to guess the interleave because the BIOS froze each time it tried to determine it empirically - there's nothing on the Fujitsu site to help - How do I decide on an interleave without spending hundreds on use-once software? Thanks |
