7403	2000-12-06 02:50:00	A game i recently installed on my computer game with direct x 6 which was installed along with the game since then an older game which ran off direct x 5 would not run ( odd ). I was then addvised to download direct x 8 from the microsoft site on the net which I have done. This managed only to make things worse. It seemed to download and install without a problem. However when it came to running the games it seems their were files missing or not installed which it said was required to run the game ( namely ddraw.dll dsound.dll dinput.dll depending on the game). This i asume means the new version did not properly install, however it does seem to have some presence on the computer as neither versions 5 or 6 which came with the previosly mentioned games will install over it (being older versions) I was told that your magazine may be able to offer some advice, any help would be welcome and I have foundt that dealing with microsoft can be slow and futile.
