| 7485 | 2000-12-10 22:35:00 | I've been having a few problems playing DVDs on my computer. It is a Pentium III-500, 128Mb Ram, nVidia TNT2 32Mb Video card. Via technologies Chipset. I am not at my machine at the moment, I am unsure of the type of DVD drive it is. I might post that later, if needed. There is no decoder card, software decoding only. Problem is, when I try to play a DVD, it either freezes (usually after Windows has been running for a while) or runs jerkily. This is using PowerDVD. I have tried other decoder programs and operating systems (win98, win2000 and winme). I have tried installing the latest drivers, firmware updates, program patches, latest directx version. All to no avail, the DVDs still jerk! My flatmate has a similar machine (identical except for a different sized hard drive). DVDs work fine on that machine. If no one has any suggestions, I might try ghosting her machine to mine to see if it is a problem with my hardware, or vice versa to see if it is a problem with my system setup. Any suggestions?! I've exhausted all I can think of! Thanks in advance Michael |
