| 1269002 | 2012-04-09 05:07:00 | Is when streaming webcam actively uploading (costing broadband usage) if no one is actually logged in watching? Thinking streaming/uploading might be constant or just starts uploading when someone logs in? Thanks. Googled with no good answers. |

If you had a website somewhere else, and the camera uploaded a frame every 30 seconds or so, then it would probably be uploading those images no matter if anyone was viewing the website or not. As for an actual live stream, no, I don't think there would be any data usage without someone actually being connected and actively watching. Easiest way might be just to run some kind of network traffic monitor on the machine with the webcam and see what happens with and without viewers. |
