1268827 2012-04-08 00:41:00 Hi

After I've booted the laptop up from cold, the first time I try to download something (eg from GOTD) it takes a relatively long time before the download box (where I can specify the download destination) appears. After that, further downloads appear quickly. When I reboot, one again the first download drags. It never used to be this bad.

Has anyone got any ideas?

I'm using Vista Home Premium SP 2

1268829 2012-04-08 01:25:00 Hi Speedy - Happy Easter

No, I only gave GOTD as an example. It happens with any download, including attachments (which usually are relativelly sma;; eg < 1mb) in Gmail

1268830 2012-04-08 01:32:00 Actually, thinking about it a bit more, it's not a case of when I start the computer - it's more the first download of a new Internet session. I'm using Chrome. tuiruru (12277)

:stare:

Troubleshoot it further, does it also do it with Internet Explorer or Firefox? Probably just Chrome being weird.

Starting each browser up from cold and going to the same download link, the times before the "Save As" window appeared were as follows:

IE 8.0.6 12 secs

FF 3.6.17 6 secs

Chrome 26 secs
18.0.1025.151 m

I've tried clearing the cache but that hasn't made any difference

Any other suggestions anyone?

1268833 2012-04-09 00:40:00 Might be because of the people who are on the site, at the same time as you. Probably not much you can do about it Speedy Gonzales (78)

No, it doesn't matter which site it is.
