1245317 2011-11-24 19:58:00 Question:Why does everyone always think of the negative side of that.

Example: From the Sept 2011 PC & Tech Authority Mag, "100 Technologies that changed the World"

See attachment -- or are people still so one sided and prudish

Although it is a lot of money. But selling the silver- errrrrrrrrrr no !

Also try reading the comments on that page.
Clearly Stuff is now expecting a 'prurient response' from outraged members of society. Don't fall into the trap.

1245318 2011-11-24 20:03:00 If that was the only thing that money was wasted on, it would be a good question. Cicero (40)
1245319 2011-11-24 20:18:00 Maybe someone can explain why anyone would spend $780m for people to study Porn when there is any amount who would pay to do it?

And how many Joint Replacements and Cataract operations would $780m cover?

1245320 2011-11-24 20:33:00 That 780 is a fraction of waste, it works on the it's not my money principle. Cicero (40)

Well as a woman I can think of at least one reason.
As for that article, right....only pron was responsible for tech. Actually I thought it was games, that did more that the need to view a few pics and video clips. And has a lot more participants too.

Regardless, research on it? Pitiful.

1245322 2011-11-24 20:54:00 I was curious about what the Marsden Fund (www.royalsociety.org.nz) was. It appears that it is a Government Fund. Bobh (5192)
1245323 2011-11-24 21:08:00 I Think people missed the point of this research. Stuff has made it out to be something quite evil however the study isn't about studying porn itself. They are looking at the effects of pornography on society. Its an entirely different matter that is likely to be beneficial.

Unfortunately with news they often make a big deal out of something that's quite innocent in its own right. I understand how the topic of pornography can be considered best left untouched however this isn't a study of porn. Its a study on its effects.

I don't think they are getting quite that much money. Pay more attention to detail please, or I will have to fail you!

It is $780,000 not $780,000,000. Get your figures in order.
