1244924 2011-11-22 23:34:00 One very luck chopper pilot..

No doubt the Labor dept and OSH will be swarming all over the site looking for someone to charge and take to court..

1244925 2011-11-22 23:36:00 As the famous NZ author Rex Forester says in his book.
Helicopters are an accident waiting to happen.

Yep they will be like buzzards circling a dead animal.
Perhaps the pilot forgot to wear his hi viz overalls.

1244927 2011-11-23 01:25:00 The cause is obvious - Telecom failed to hold their end up; probably because dropping the ball is ingrained in their corporate ethos. R2x1 (4628)

1244930 2011-11-23 05:11:00 There were a number of cameras on the scene, and one facing the front of the chopper caught the issue well.

There's some very lucky bozo almost beneath the chopper holding a cable... loosely.
By the time he wakes up about the proximity of the blades it's too late. A blade takes a hit, goes out of balance, and the chopper shakes itself to pieces before it even hits the ground.

Ultimately however, I'd have to hold blame with the pilot for getting into such a spot in the first place.
Might be a meagre christmas at his home unless he's well insured.
