| 1245726 | 2011-11-28 01:17:00 | Correction change and keep number reversed initially: Can someone check this I dont believe it. Looking at the Referendum figures again it struck me as having further oddities. We are told that 123,708 people voted to Change from MMP We are further told that the count went: First Past the Post (FPP) 92,416 Preferential Voting (PV) 23,749 Single Transferable Vote (STV) 32,564 Supplementary Member (SM) 42,120 Now call me old fashioned but I would have thought that the Sum of FPP + PV + STV + SM would have equalled 123,708 the number that voted for change. But no, if you add those figures together they come to 190,849 a small discrepancy of 67,141. Now if we were to use the Sum figure of 190,849 instead of 123,708 we have voted for Change not Keep. Robert Mugabe couldnt have done better. |

| 1245727 | 2011-11-28 01:42:00 | What you're forgetting is that there is the possibility of a second referendum - if there is a mandate for change, then there will be a second referendum in 2014 to choose between MMP and the highest-scoring option from part B. If there is not a mandate for change, then MMP is kept, but undergoes a review. There was - tick the box for change in part A, and leave part B blank. This was stated pretty clearly on the ballot paper. Because the percentage of advance votes that supported keeping MMP make this almost certain to be the case - it's unlikely that the remainder of the votes, when counted, will deviate significantly from the advance ones. Pity they didnt organise the main election that way. A: Do you wish to change the government? Yes or No. B: If Yes which Party do you want? National Labour Green . None of those, I wont fill in B I just want change. :devil That would have made things interesting. Little wonder Informal Votes have polled the highest so far at 34%. |

| 1245731 | 2011-11-28 02:06:00 | I think that when they review MMP they should drop the threshold to 1%. And drop the coat tails rule. So if a party gets 1% they get 1 MP If they get 3% they get 3 Mp's. But None get in on the coat tail rule. So the percentage vote you get is the number of seats you get. OK under this rule you may get a few small parties, but that is better than the present situation (which did not happen this election) So the Conservatives would have got 1 seat. |

| 1245733 | 2011-11-28 04:28:00 | @ Digby. What does Obama have to do with elections in NZ? I was just pointing out how lame it is to campaign on a platform of change - change what. The same with reform - reform it how - how you like it or how I would like it ? |
