1245191 2011-11-26 20:34:00 I want more motorways in Auckland and a revamped SH1 North, wont get that with the commie parties.

I wanted smart transport such as Operation Lifesaver and a CBD rail tunnel, won't get that with National. :(

1245192 2011-11-26 21:24:00 Well, at least we know what having the blues means, even if there's not a lot to sing about. On the bright side, Rodney has gone, Brash has crashed, and it's nowhere near lunchtime yet. R2x1 (4628)

1245194 2011-11-26 22:17:00 Oh please, every vote counts. :rolleyes:Yep - and every Labour voter who stayed at home helped ensure a National government; that's the entire reason I advocated Labour voters abstaining :p. Erayd (23)

The only trouble with more motorways is that the more you have the more cars end up on the road and less the public transport system is used and the bottle necks just end up getting moved from one place to another.

In this case, it's both.

Because both roading and public transport require improvement, but there isn't enough money for both, this then means you need to make a choice - which improvement will provide the greatest per-dollar benefit. In this case, that's roading - hence why roading got the lion's share of the available transport budget.

1245199 2011-11-26 23:25:00 From the Maori party Maori-Party-mulls-coalition-talks (www.stuff.co.nz)
He said the party's poor performance showed supporters did not like the party siding with National over the past three years No kidding ;)

What I was really getting at there Erayd is the easier you make it to drive the more people will but the trouble with that is it all starts to mushroom so in my view it would be better to improve the public transport system or encourage more companies to embrace tele-working.
