He most probably will make quite a bit of money by selling his story to magazines TV if they have not already approched him. There was a doco on the Discovery channel the other night about a helicopter that had a mechanical failure while flying over New York. There was 2 on board. The pilot was able to make a hurried decent onto the top of some brick apartment blocks at a rather fast speed. He crashed through a brick chimney and a 6ft high brick wall which by this time the copter had lost its tailboom with just the pilot and the passenger in the cockpit. After hitting the brick wall it fell down onto the top of another building and in doing so did a 360 barrel roll and landed on its skids and stopped. The pilot and passenger survived. Can't remember the make of chopper but was something like a Jetranger. :) |

| 1244963 | 2011-11-24 21:21:00 | What puzzles me (many years in aircraft design) is why the transport frame failed so dramatically. He was flying a helicopter, not a Sherman tank, which are a bit heavy to be airworthy. Strong though. Thomas you should know this. Even your TSR2 would have broken up in comparable circumstances. |

| 1244965 | 2011-11-24 22:14:00 | TSR2 guess it would have been normal Englander heap of guano hard to maintain aircraft where it takes 4 days to change an engine. Whilst a F111 engine slides in on a rail with quick disconnects so easy to hook up a hillbilly yank high school drop out could do it. |
