1269016 2012-04-11 00:50:00 This will be of Interest --- The before mentioned drive - Vipre was run, it located 4 trojans.

Vipre was removed, Nod32 installed and is currently scanning. That pic says enough about how good Vipre actually is. :groan:

1269018 2012-04-11 01:40:00 Yep lime wire was used. The point though, Vipre didn't detect the infections, Nod32 did. In fact even Trojan remover didn't see them as that was run through even before Vipre. wainuitech (129)
1269019 2012-04-11 01:49:00 Now here comes the pressing question - is it better than Norton? :D pcuser42 (130)

1269021 2012-04-11 07:34:00 No not thinking of Chillisoft. The way it was told in several emails wasn't quite that suttle as written above.

Ah well, I don't keep the emails, quite likely we (Counterspy and I) got into a slanging match....

1269022 2012-04-11 07:56:00 I'm surprised to hear you had trouble with Chillisoft. I have always found them helpful, & I don't think we had any trouble with accounts, but I don't have much to do with that area. Greven (91)

This means little, sorry.
If you want to compare AV's , they need to have the same setup. Vipre probably has a default set NOT to scan mp3's on a quick scan. What if you did a comprehensive scan with Vipre, ie scan all files ??
Was this a quick scam on Nod or a Full scan on NOD. ??

Not that Im saying Vipre would have ever found these, but any comprehensive AV scan should be set to all files

What a daft statement, you have been in this forum long enough to know I do this for a living, and didn't come down in the last shower :groan:.

Quick scans are a complete waste of time, you HAVE to do full indepth scans.Only idiots think they can get away with quick scans.

And this is exactly what was done, Vipre was set to scan its maximum settings and every type of file it was possible to scan within the settings, and so was Nod32. It was a simple experiment (while cleaning it out), scan with Vipre, uninstall it, then scan with Nod32 which detected items Vipre missed. Not exactly a brainer ;)
