1268837 2012-04-09 07:45:00 If you've not set it (And you haven't, coz you don't know who you're using) then you're using Telstra.

Try using OpenDNS or Google DNS and see if that makes any difference?

1268838 2012-04-09 08:06:00 The times with IE and FF look fine so it shouldn't be a DNS issue.

Maybe the anti-virus is scanning something when using Chrome, try disabling it? I take it you've updated Chrome to the latest version?

Hi Chill

Finally got Open DNS installed properly. That sped up the time to the "Save As" dialogue box, but the actual initial loading of the web pages seems to have slowed up a bit. :illogical

1268841 2012-04-10 03:13:00 OK so what if you set 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 as your DNS servers instead? Chilling_Silence (9)

That may have made a difference - I'll do some timings, the change the settings back to Open DNS and compare things. What's the significance of the 8s and 4s - where's that sending me?

Chrome is still very slow from starting it 'til it hits the homepage tho'

1268846 2012-04-10 05:02:00 I've just tried google's DNS server ips. And windowsupdate wouldnt / couldnt download MSE's updates. And some sites wouldnt load. As soon as I changed them back to TC's, windowsupdate worked, and so did the sites

Those are Google ip addresses
