Was thinking all insurance premiums may rise because of the Christchurch earthquake.

1245230 2011-11-24 12:10:00 I can verify that when it comes to claiming, AMP has one of the best track records, They are particular on who they cover, generally do not touch people under 30, and surprisingly motor insurance is not a profitable line for them - they are happy to break even. AMP's Home and Contents Policies are the Rolls Royce of domestic insurance cover - I have been with them for years, and I can't complain.

WHY DO YOU INSURE?

It should be to get an honest claim fairly met.
If you always look for the cheapest premium, then when you come to make a claim, you may be less than delighted with the way your claim is dealt with, and with your financial compensation. In this life you tend to get what you pay for.

When insuring, check out as best you can what the insurer's track record is like on meeting claims, that is what should be paramount, not the premium.

Remember:
The bitter taste of shoddy quality or inferior service lasts much longer than the euphoria of a sharp price.

1245231 2011-11-24 19:43:00 Been with State insurance yrs ago for over a decade ... over a commercial building breakin, they refused b/c they said no forced entry. They are cheaper thou incl when I got my first car 3 or so years ago when I compared them ...

Re: AMP. I have their life insurance and they are one of few companies that provides life insurance with locked premiums and AMP is the only one that provide a premium refund (without interest) if you are still alive at 100yrs old. The other few only does upto 65 or 80yrs old ... and no refund.

1245233 2011-11-24 23:34:00 Tower are pretty cheap, due mainly to their savings on postage by a cunning plan of very seldom sending out any cheques. If you never claim, they are excellent, otherwise everybody else is. R2x1 (4628)
