| 7889 | 2001-01-05 22:12:00 | I recently took out a Rockwell ISA modem out of a Pentium II-266MHz and installed a PCI modem. The BIOS then failed to boot up totally. It does a memory check, thats ok with 64 megs of ram. It does the CDROM and detects that correctly, then you see the hard drive read for half a second, and it stops. Before it hangs you can press DEL to enter the BIOS setup. I restored the defaults from here, but this made no differance. I also tried taking the modem back out, but this also made no differance. I was still able to Ctrl+alt+del to restart the computer when it hangs. What was disturbing, is that the power-off button is now not working as well. The monitor goes blank as long as you hold it down, then restores itself when you release the button. This one has me stumped. - Sam |
