| 7920 | 2001-01-08 15:23:00 | I recently zapped my Athlon 550 when I swapped the motherboard into its new larger system case.(damn!) So I'm going to upgrade to a T-Bird 800 at least, but finding a Slot A is a problem. I'm soon considering buying a Slot A to Socket A converter card from Dick Smith Electronics and getting a Socket A instead. Will this cause problems with my current Gigabyte GA-7XIE Slot A motherboard at all with detecting the correct CPU and its speed? Also what problems could likely occur? I guess I'd need to update my BIOS as well? I'd like to get this sorted before I fork out my hard earned $$$ Thanx. |
