| 8001 | 2001-01-14 22:41:00 | I recently bought a computer (Oct) from The PC Company, one of their power series, with all the bells and whistles. (800 Mhz, 815 chip set, cd-rw, GeForce 2 MX graphics, Windows Millennium OS). The initial problem I had with the computer was failing to boot up when first switched on. I needed to either hit the reset button or ctrl alt delete *2. Not a major problem, just irritating. I talked to the help desk at the PC Company and got no real help. After about a month it started to seriously crash. It would come up with a blue screen and white notice saying something like, 'Spool32 caused an exception 03h in modual user32.occ and will now close. You only have the option of hitting OK. This goes on until there is nothing left running in the computer. The only cure I have found is running the emergency recovery CD-rom supplied with the computer using the Refresh Windows option. That works well but takes about an hour. I am now up to my 11th crash, it just seems to be far to often. There is nothing consistent causing the crash. It could be caused by a program crashing. It happens after a normal shut down, just fails to boot up. It has happened after just closing a program with no problems. My question is: Is Windows Me remarkably unreliable or is it a computer problem? |
