I think I might be a victim of noisy line syndrome. There are times when the connection seems to freeze. The modem icon lights on the task bar stop flashing and nothing happens until I get the 'could not connect' message. This sometimes happens due to a windows 'exclaimation' (I think), trying to connect to an invalid web address, after I've downloaded a Money file from my bank and sometimes 'just because'. Connections seem more stable at night. I use a 56k Win Lite modem. Didn't have this problem with my old computer and a Rockwell 33k modem. Any suggestions much appreciated. |
