7972 2001-01-12 19:40:00 Hi,
I recently made a posting see(partitioning hard drive) thanks for your reply Jess.
I contacted HP to see if it may be a problem with my CD Writer. We tried the CD Writer on another system running W98 (Intel P111 450 128mb ram)and it ran perfectly.
The support person @ HP (who was excellent I might add)suggested to look towards my system as Via chipsets are renown for their issues with USB. He said that a Via system can run fine for months and then suddenly lose interest in USB for no apparent reason. I have the latest chipset with all the latest drivers.
When writing to a CD using any of three programs I have, the burning process will stop approx 1/2 to 3/4 the way through. My Aspi layers are up to date, latest firmware for the CD Writer, the system reports no conflicts and this is driving me nuts. Is it likely to be an issue with ME or Via or something else.
My system is an Athlon T-bird 900mhz
128mb ram VT 8363 KT133 chipset
CD Writer is an HP 8210e on USB
Any help would be most appreciated and I can pay you with a set of coasters for your time, I have 18 of them.
