I have Windows ME on a Dell 500 Celeron with an 810e chipset and 15 GB hardrive. When I run scandisk or defrag in Windows or the same in Ontrack System Suite 2000 utilities they both hang when it comes to scanning the File Allocation Tables and I get the message: <Disk Volume Changed-Restarting> over and over just as it begins to scan the start of the hard drive and then it loops on itself. I have tried re-installing ME to no effect, and I think (here I didn't write down what I did) I reinstalled MS Office 2000 and it solved the problem temporarily but it came back again. Any ideas? I buy PC World and appreciate your magazine and F1. |
