2012-04-13 00:57:00 | Hi and hoping you guys can please3, help me? I have Windows XP Home and yet again had to do a format install. Problem is my Ethernet will not function. I have managed, after much hair pulling, get my wireless to work. I've tried to reload the driver, remove and uninstall, used Driver easy but nothing will get it working and I have used about 2 "new" Ethernet cables. Please help as I don't have much hair, as it is??? THanks, Ian.

2012-04-13 01:05:00 | Might be a case of needing to install the chipset/mobo drivers, from what I've seen installing them will often make the ethernet work. | 8ftmetalhaed (14526) | |
2012-04-13 01:16:00 | You have to find out what the mobo is. Then download the drivers from the mobo makers site. Then install them. They wont be included in the chipset drivers, unless its an AMD system | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2012-04-13 01:16:00 | Okay. How do I, "install the chipset/mobo drivers, from what I've seen installing them will often make the ethernet work"? | ianhnz (4263) | |
2012-04-13 01:19:00 | Find the make and model of your motherboard if you don't know it download and install speccy and run it that will tell you then you need to download the correct drivers from the website of the boards manufacturer | gary67 (56) | |

2012-04-13 01:52:00 | Are you sure your ethernet is active from boot in the bios. | stratex5 (16685) | |
2012-04-13 01:55:00 | You still need drivers if the NIC is enabled in the BIOS | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2012-04-13 02:11:00 | I just recently had this exact same problem. Even with the latest mobo drivers they would not install. The cure for me was managing to upgrade xp to SP3 which for some reason then allowed the ms universal driver to install and then just for the hell of it the mobo driver would work also. Never struck this before so I appreciate the hair pulling experience. Hope this might help. | PeteS (12500) | |
2012-04-13 03:55:00 | Hi all. Seems I have a A7N8X-LA mother board and downloaded the driver from their site, so, I think it's working. Too scared to disconnect the wireless, in-case its not. I have updated to SP 3 and, I think, is all updated by now. $ days ago.. Thanks for the help and advise. Ian
