Laptops are terrible for upgrading, once it's out of date you pretty much have to chuck it out. :groan:. If you want to play games and upgrade get a desktop |

| 1269615 | 2012-04-12 03:48:00 | It'll cost you a fortune if it's any good, serious gaming laptops cost double what a good desktop does and still aren't as powerful. How portable do you want it? a SFF pc can be built to game and be quite portable with careful choosing of components, although SLI is not really an option for SFF. You want an i5 or i7, 4GB or more of RAM, and the fastest mobile graphics card you can get. The m18x spec-wise looks about as good as it gets, the dual 580M/6990M is about equivalent to a pair of GTX560's in SLI which is pretty damn nice. Probably overkill in fact. My lounge PC is a micro ATX board in a silverstone sugo SG06 case. I've had a GTX460 in there and gamed @ 1080P quite successfully as an experiment. With 8GB of RAM and an i5 2500 it's hard to match with a laptop and a lot cheaper. That case allows 10.5" cards I think, there are slightly larger ones that allow full length cards. |

| 1269617 | 2012-04-12 06:22:00 | The m18x r2 sounds about the best you can get for a laptop, custom desktops are more bang for your buck, that's if you select the right parts at the right time. You could easily setup external display. |
