www.androidpolice.com

Now, lets be honest, in order for something like that to be remotely "hackable", there has to be some description of either a vulnerability, or a back-door method compiled in. It's plausible, except that we have the source code for Android. There's thousands of people who look over it, the likes of the team who produce CyanogenMod that basically within hours of the ICS source code being released had already identified which features of their previous Gingerbread CM7 ROM were going to be ported over, which were already implemented, and which were going to need quite a bit of work because of the fact that Google have changed how they do certain things with certain APIs / Frameworks etc... Those guys are switched on man!

I have full belief that IF some sort of deliberate back-door method existed, they'd have found it already!

They may be able to spoof things on a network level though, that's another story altogether... But that isn't smartphone-specific, so I must conclude that Mr Assange is either mis-informed, or exaggerating.

1246792 2011-12-03 10:03:00 Blackberry, iOS, GMail - all closed systems (if you think having open code is a cure-all)

As for Julian Assange he's been hacking (as in cracking) and reading secret information since he was a teenager. I doubt he's wrong

1246796 2011-12-11 09:12:00 It's all a bit of a storm in a teacup. Carrier IQ is a carrier 'customisation' and none of the Kiwi telcos use it. There is even an Android app (if you have real phone! :)) you can install to see if your phone is 'infected' if you don't trust the telcos.... johcar (6283)

1246799 2011-12-13 09:29:00 @mikebartnz:

If you were referring to my last post then let me clarify

Somebody posted a link (this one www.androidpolice.com) which mentioned Juliain Assange stating iPhone, Blackberry and Gmail were easily hackable

I just posted a few facts as I thought there was some confusion

As for your statement "Nokia has only put out one", what does that even mean?
