I don't think Vodafone offer secure SMTP either for ADSL or WiFi connections, I think they do for 3g connections. One option would be to signup for a gmail account and just use that by setting the SMTP to smtp.gmail.com and send through their SMTP server. SMTP Server smtp.gmail.com You must Authenticate the GMAIL smtp server by using your GMAIL login details SMTP port must be 465 with the SSL setting checked. If you are receiving mail ok on all devices I would leave them set to POP3 If you change to IMAP and delete the pop account you could loose all your sent items although if mail is being left on the server you would be able to get back what is in the Inbox there if you changed to IMAP |

| 1269454 | 2012-04-13 10:18:00 | Good news and bad news. The good news is that mail.yourdomain.co.nz supports STARTTLS for encryption, SMTP AUTH for sending from anywhere and IMAP for easily handling the mailbox on multiple devices. The bad news is that your IPAD only supports the old direct SSL (which your mail server does not). Your best bet for seamless use from any connection and device would be to use the roundcube webmail on your host via a browser on whatever device.' I don't know if clear or vodafone support it but you may be able to forward all incoming mail in those accounts to your you@yourdomain.co.nz address giving you one place to see all your mail. To find out, you would need to log in to the webmail at clear & vodafone and explore the "Options", it should be in there somewhere. Alternatively, as suggested previously, you could have all the accounts set up as POP on each device with "Leave mail on the server" ticked (I am presuming the IPAD will do this). This is a bit of a kludge though, and at some point you will probably get some 'downloaded on one & unavailable on others' or 'duplicated download' issues. edit: yes gmail will work as well but ... well ... it's google ... |
