| 1247270 | 2011-12-05 23:26:00 | maps.google.com :) Might this (maps.google.com) be closer to the general area? (Sorry, my telescope is only a cheapo, so it's not absolutely accurate at long range, even without that pesky 110V getting into the mix.) |

| 1247272 | 2011-12-06 01:01:00 | Good to hear back . I thought you got firewood for free before, as shown in your earlier photos . What's a cord? a metric volume? Yeah - The US Forest Service has a few free days in California - which I don't know for sure exist here in Montana . But - that in mind - they allow you to harvest 4 chords of firewood ( 4" x 4" x 8") of firewood for a fee of $28 . 00 if you want to go get it yourself . The 'gathering' area or zone is close by here - about 8 miles directly south of me, but it's all covered in snow by now - or too rough to get to . Wait till Summer and I'll get a few cords fer myself . Still --- I COULD take the Blazer and trailer out into the woods . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I was wondering the same as we pay $150-$180 for a cord here In Anza - which is next to Idyllwild, after the first snowflakes hit the ground, a cord of wood will go from $350/cord to $450 and even higher . Normally if one wants to buy firewood in the hot months in SoCal, it is about $150/cord . But wait till it's cold and the prices jump . In Idyllwild, ad another $100 to $150 for the same wood - unceremoniously dumped in your driveway or front lawn . My insurance agent here in Montana, burned 11 cords last winter . But then again, insurance agents own huge houses too . Let me get a good aerial view of the house here for youse guys: . google . com/maps?q=hamilton,+montana&hl=en&sll=37 . 0625,-95 . 677068&sspn=37 . 410045,56 . 513672&vpsrc=0&hnear=Hamilton,+Ravalli,+Montana&t=h&z=13" target="_blank">maps . google . com If you look here ( . google . com/maps?q=328+fish+hatchery+road,+hamilton,+montana&hl=en&sll=46 . 248333,-114 . 159722&sspn=0 . 063866,0 . 110378&vpsrc=0&hnear=328+Fish+Hatchery+Rd,+Hamilton,+Montana+5984" target="_blank">maps . google . com 0&t=h&z=16) - you can see the blue roof on the 5-acre parcel that's our property . It's where Foley Road and Fish Hatchery meet . Great looking location SJ, I daren't show the pix to Mrs T though, she'd love the isolation, and the cold, and she'd be looking up real estate agents on line and booking airline tickets . You'll need traffic lights on that intersection for rush hour, and you'd best polish up your guns in case the neighbours get noisy of a night . :D How about a reference for a satellite view? I bet that would look great . Cheers Billy 8-{) I was in town today and visited a sports store - OK - it's a massively large store that sells skis, fishing gear, track/field apparel and guns . LOTS of guns . Not that I'm interested in buying one, but holding that 50 caliber Smith & Wesson ( . sfgate . com/c/pictures/2003/02/14/mn_newgun1 . jpg" target="_blank">imgs . sfgate . com) revolver was impressive . It made the Dirty Harry Special ( . 44 AutoMag pistol) next to it, shrink and blush . I've ne'er seen so many guns and pistols and shotguns in one place before . Might this ( . google . com/maps?saddr=Anza,+CA+92539&daddr=39 . 7484403,-114 . 7471975+to:Hamilton,+Mt&hl=en&ll=41 . 574361,-101 . 689453&spn=35 . 102613,56 . 513672&sll=35 . 05698,-116 . 026611&sspn=4 . 60389,7 . 064209&geocode=FewHAAId_J4L-SkzZ0GK8KbbgDEhPSU4_ePCSw%3BFViDXgIdwxgp-SkBOc98MNexgDFtYlTDx_oFyg%3BFY2xwQIdlg8y-SnDalw_HDNZUzF7OYLRmj3fWg&vpsrc=6&mra=ls&t=m&z=4&via=1" target="_blank">maps . google . com) be closer to the general area? (Sorry, my telescope is only a cheapo, so it's not absolutely accurate at long range, even without that pesky 110V getting into the mix . ) That map appears to be the start and finish of my trip to get here from Anza . Well - it DID get to 32ºF (water freezing point) today and I thought it was downright tropical . We went to get our vehicle insurance changed over to Montana and I think I may feel better taking the next part of my trip with a free-towing AAA card in my wallet . Now if only the cell phones will work out there to call for a tow truck if I need it! I'll be hauling a trailer behind me with the last remnants of life in Anza with me here to Hamilton . I have a plane ticket on Thursday to LA and a friend to pick me up from there and take me to Anza for an overnight and then load the rest of my junk and get back on the road to here again . It should take me three days for the return drive if I don't hit a blizzard . BULLETIN! --- I don't get to buy a resident's fishing license for six months after I get my Montana driver's license! We is talkin' JUNE here! |

| 1247273 | 2011-12-06 01:08:00 | I live in Hamilton myself, practically neighbours apart from the pesky pacific ocean and a little bit of land in between. Bit warmer too, we saw snow here this winter just gone for the first time in my life, and it was melting as fast as it landed. Looks like a great location though, hope the family is happy there. |

| 1247274 | 2011-12-06 01:23:00 | Joe - the measurement you gave wouldn't result in much wood (gotta love the English language) :) In Kiwiland, the '"' symbol indicates inches wheras ''' indicates feet :) |

So we will have to assume that you will be test firing that .50 cal S&W into the creek to see how big a slash it makes .... and retrieving the stunned trout in an attempt to bring them around by warming them up slowly in the frying pan because the water's too cold from the snow .... (place Tui ad here) How we going fishing (www.youtube.com) in Kiwiland SJ ... ya don't need a licence ... :D |

| 1247277 | 2011-12-06 04:44:00 | Cute. We use hand grenades on tough-fish days. I won't be buying any weapons, alt6hough I have no bad intentions, but I just don't want to get spread that thin. Bass guitars, stoking the fire and watching TV and the snow fall (when-if it does) is fine for activities right now. I'm resting up for my next trip to Anza and back here again - guns aren't a need, just a serious appreciation for the mechanics of them. And the big noise they make. That's good too. |

You could come fishing here in NZ SJ - Summer's coming up. Here's a pic of a fellow Montanan (www.fishingmag.co.nz) (I think it's what a Montana resident is called; - if you call yourself one yet) with a Salmon from the South Island. Get them that big over there? |

| 1247279 | 2011-12-06 06:53:00 | guns aren't a need I was under the impression that it was compulsory under the 2nd Amendment Rights of the Constitution that people must keep and bear arms ... mind you, I'm not too sure whether that's the correct wording (or spelling) .... :D |
