1269941 2012-04-16 00:34:00 Yes that is what I found out with Cartridge World ink. If you don't use your printer very often the print heads in the cartridge become blocked. With the Canon inks that doesn't happen.

1269942 2012-04-16 11:15:00 I have a customer who loves their continuous ink system, but as has been pointed out, they are a pain to get set up correctly & you can never move them or stop printing for a week. Greven (91)
1269943 2012-04-16 11:20:00 More helpful info - thanks. Paul and Dugi - I had read your comments about the Melco system in a thread of several years ago, and they, together with some other negative comments about CISS that I have seen, were the reason I don't want to go that way. Dugi and Trev - can you define "frequently" and "very often" as used in your comments? The 'ink drying out' phenomenon for some products is a tendency I have read about and precisely what I want to avoid. I have never experienced it with Calidad inks (or Canons). Robin S_ (86)
1269944 2012-04-16 12:14:00 I go through phases, I might print a lot for a week or so then nothing for a couple of months. The cheap G&G branded cartridges I have been buying don't work well that way which is why I got a laser. dugimodo (138)
1269945 2012-04-16 22:01:00 My printing can be from daily to once a month. Never less often than monthly.

The Melco cyan was seriously messed up and it was a constant battle to get it clear for any and every print run. Meanwhile the black tended to run too much at times and was dripping onto sheets during printing.

1269946 2012-04-16 22:08:00 Sometimes it is up too 3 months or more between prints and I found that the Cartridge World cartridges became blocked where as the Canon ones always work fine although my Canon printer goes through a cleaning period before it prints for several minutes.

1269947 2012-04-18 13:11:00 Thanks again - the non-use intervals that give rise to problems are helpful. I use 1 printer at a time (in a home situation, not a lot of printing involved) but have 2 canon iP4000s which I switch every 2 months to avoid ink blockages and have not had any flow problems (using Canon and Calidad inks). It would seem that if I can no longer get Calidad I would have to swap them more frequently if I need to change to Cartridge World carts.

I would still be interested in hearing from anyone else who has had good performances from other brands of ink.
