| 1269830 | 2012-04-13 11:00:00 | The mobo that I will get has support for a core 2 extreme quad core, support for 8 GB DDR2 dual channel RAM so that will do me fine . Got it for nothing so a pretty good deal eh. Hate to burst your bubble, but actually its could be a big problem -- Do you have a socket 775 CPU to fit it ? That board takes 775 CPU, which are now almost obsolete,(old technology) theres hardly any available these days. You may be hard pressed to actually find a new one of reasonable power, as many shops dont carry them. The most common one that is still available is the E6600. "If" you dont have a CPU already, I'd be very careful as to how much money you spend on old technology - should the motherboard play up, once again it will be higly unlikey you will find a new 775 board for your new CPU. Those boards (775) are also close to obsolete, theres only a few basic models left. |

| 1269831 | 2012-04-13 22:02:00 | Thats what I have been worried about, but it's a free mobo. The other option would be to save up for a socket 1155 or 1156. | ChazTheGeek (16619) | ||

As I Tell my customers, unless you have a current CPU to use, you would be better off saving and buys newer parts. Wouldn't bother with 1156, thats gone as well. 1155 is far more available. Cant go by the numbers but the 1155 is newer than the 1156. I got a 1156 board here, Brand new none of the suppliers have any 1156 CPU's grrrrrrrrrrrr So I'm keeping it as a spare / Warranty job for about 1 of the dozen or so PC's I built at the time. |

| 1269834 | 2012-04-14 06:29:00 | Oh. I don't want to use my current CPU it's way past obsolete. I'd rather have a core 2 extreme than my current one. What do you people think of core 2 extreme? |
