You can download the user manuals for those new fangled paper books. They have a high tech 3d interface that wraps around a 2D display. --------------------- ahh, just spotted the multi quote button, to late  |

| 1246504 | 2011-12-01 12:11:00 | Bought a Kindle Keyboard, Wi-Fi, 6" E Ink Display for my wife a couple of weeks ago - Got it for $US 139.00 plus shipping and handling of $US26.97 from amazon.com . Same as the 3G unit with keyboard but without the 3G facility - it worked out some AUD60 less than buying the same unit in Australia from Dickhead Smith, so not a bad deal. Check out amazon.co.uk, they ship freight free to Australia and NZ, although the unit is a bit dearer through the UK. |

Then plant some trees Then maintain the trees for 25 years Then you kill the tree Then you mill the tree Then you process the tree into paper Then you print each piece of paper Then you bind the paper into a book Then you read the book, additional light source required if its not daytime. Its right up there with clay bricks and using leaves as toilet paper. Having said that, I'll be real impressed when we advance past dead trees for wiping our bottoms. |

Another thought, and what I did, go into dick smiths, pick up a kindle, and have a play. See if you like it. Didn't buy mine from there but did look at one. I didn't think the keyboard was necessary so I got the one without. Kinda wish I'd gone for the touch version but other than that I'm happy with it. |

The problem (as I see it) is that Kindle locks you into that particular platform, so I have stayed clear of it. In my research, I ended up completely rejecting only the Kindle, and looking seriously at the others. x2 That and the Kindle has an assload of DRM on it, plus the fact they can remotely delete any book from your Kindle without your permission, if they want to. A small tablet PC would probably be best, then you can run whatever software you feel like to view whatever files you want, there's no DRM or other crap, PLUS it doubles as a real PC for doing other things! Brilliant! |
