1245912 2011-11-28 00:22:00 Why isn't number one on the list "Contacted TradeMe"?

Because there is nothing they can do. Its an auction . Trademe cant give any warranty or get involved in
warranties.

But Id have top say.... 23 -ve feedbacks (+ 20 Blues). Thats a 10% -ve rate for the seller.
He probably now doesnt care.
Im guessing these are re-manufactured/repaired phones from China. ??

Try the disputes tribunal . Perhaps threatening this may get some action , but somehow I doubt it.

1245913 2011-11-28 01:04:00 Gave him a call. His cellphone is obviously flat as it went straight through to voice mail. I didn't leave a message because I doubt he would have bothered to listen to it. I don't have a land line number to call him on so I'll try again later. icow (15313)

Maybe he bought his celphone from himself?

1245915 2011-11-28 01:44:00 I now have:
1) A picture of him and his drivers licence
2) His age
3) His mobile number
4) His profiles on popular social networking sites
5) His email
6) What school he went to
7) Evidence of him trying to avoid trademe fees
8) Area of NZ he lives in
9) Activity on forums in NZ and the US

That's why you dont f*ck with someone who knows what he's doing on a computer
Congratulations on your detective skills.

If he is a store selling on Trademe you may have some rights.
If not, well, it's an auction.

Even if he is a store, all you can do is take him to Disputes Tribunal and Trademe would have given you his details for that anyway - if you are successful in your Dispute, there is still no guarantee he'll pay, they won't chase the debt for you.

There were 14 negative comments before your purchase, plus a lot of neutral comments.
I think most of us would have passed him up!

Good luck. Looks like a rough road for you.

1245917 2011-11-28 03:00:00 Lesson learnt I hope, it always pays to be careful with such sites.

For myself I always follow 2 simple rules:
1. Never spend more than you're willing to lose(unless you're sure of the seller and probably not even then)
2. Always check the feedback

And most of the time a 3rd;
3. Never spend more than 50~75% of new price for a 2nd hand item.
(for me this one is just about not being worth buying 2nd hand if the saving isn't reasonable)

I'm not a heavy trademe user, but so far in several years I have had no bad experiences and only a couple of slight issues that were easily sorted.

1245918 2011-11-28 03:42:00 Since Its much less than $100 (i think I saw your auction), just give up & get on with your life. (seriously)
Honestly, all the stress, anger & effort you'll put in, will in the end just be wasted.

Ive been down this path before, just write it off now . You will get nowhere .

1245919 2011-11-28 04:00:00 I recently brought a phone off trademe, it was listed and brand new. When I recieved the phone things went crappy pretty quickly. Emailed him twice. No response. So i went hunting :devil
I now have:
1) A picture of him and his drivers licence

:(

You could do all this but you couldn't read his feedback? You are the perfect customer for him and his ilk.

One of you shouldn't be allowed out without a short leash attached to a heavyweight minder.

Far be it for me to suggest which one, but caveat emptor comes to mind as a gentle hint.

Cheers

1245920 2011-11-28 04:49:00 You could also report him for breaking TradeMe T&C as he does not have the items in his possession when he lists them. This is called drop shipping. It is clear from the feedback he is ordering the product from overseas after selling them. Jen (38)
