How do I make the background fit the browser window, using something simple in html. I've improved it but it's still kind of tiled.

My coding skills are rubbsih as you know.....

It's this part...

</head>
<body
style="padding: 0pt; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: white; background-image: url(VintageBackground.gif); height: 100%; width: 100%;"
bgproperties="fixed" bg="" src="Background.gif"
position:relative="" padding:10px="" z-index:1=""
top:0="" left:0="" width:0="">
<!--[if IE 6]>
<style type="text/css">
html {overflow-y:hidden;}
body {overflow-y:auto;}
#page-background {position:absolute; z-index:-1;}
#content {position:static;padding:1 0px; }
</style>
<![endif]-->alink="#000099"

1270157 2012-04-15 20:42:00 After hours and hours I progressed to this point.
It's different slightly in Chrome. Also I had to centre text, no tables - can't remember how to make a transparent table to put the text in.
It's also got too much black to the right - so it's not really adjusting to browser window properly.

It has a .css file and messing with that accomplished less than I thought, a combination of that and code in the .html go this far.
But I don't really know what I'm doing.
