1270099 2012-04-14 23:27:00 This morning I cannot connect to the interwebs. I have tried IE, Firefox and Chrome, nothing. I rebooted router ,restarted computer. I'm with Slingshot, am using Vista Home Prem Slingshot says they have no issues at the moment. I am connected at the moment with portable wifi off my phone, so will probably run out of data very soon.

1270100 2012-04-14 23:53:00 Are you using a proxy?? It sounds like someone is. Check the settings under the browser's settings/options. Or what firewall (if any) is installed. Try updating something (Or if you use Win7, see if windowsupdate works). If it does, a proxy maybe blocking net access Speedy Gonzales (78)
1270101 2012-04-15 00:04:00 Have you logged into the router to check that it is actually connected and getting an IP address? CYaBro (73)
1270102 2012-04-15 00:24:00 Yes, I can log into the router ok and what should I be looking for in the results when I ping an IP? The network is fine and the notification icon says local access and Internet connection. I have a wireless netgear modem/router. Its about 5 years old, could it be failing?

1270103 2012-04-15 01:16:00 If you go into the router - does it say you are connected to the web and have a IP number and it should have some kind of upstream and downstream speed connection.

But then again if your two lights on the router, is that the DSL and the Internet light is green - it generally means you are connected anyway (as does the Windows taskbar). If there is no Internet, Windows should say "No Internet Access" but yes Wifi.

What happens on other computers?
Try a network cable and if it connects?
Can you access the shared folders of other computers?

1270104 2012-04-15 01:18:00 Just found out
The problem is with Slingshot. There is an Internet outage with them nationwide

1270105 2012-04-15 01:23:00 I have learnt that if the router is all green (or red), I don't bother to call them.
Give it a day or so ..
