| 1246525 | 2011-12-01 01:07:00 | Hi Guys, I am in the process of moving over to Aus (Melbourne) and have been looking at prices to ship my computer over. It is a fairly large beast, the case is 609mm X 609mm X 229 mm + probably about 20mm either side for the size of the packing in the box. Total weight, probably around 25-30kg. I filled out an online quote from DHL, and their quote was just shy of 1k which is absurd, it is a valuable beast, but I'm not spending that much to ship it! If anyone has any info or experience on shipping this sort of item your input would be greatly appreciated! :D |

Or ship it by snail mail... (with insurance) or again strip it down to parts and post the smaller parts. Motherboard is the largest piece, followed by graphics cards. The rest is fairly small (ok forgot the PSU and Optical drive) Try taking it in to your local post shop and see what they can offer. |

| 1246530 | 2011-12-01 02:08:00 | Also watch out for import taxes and duties on complete systems. ;) Ive taken over quite a few, but always as parts, and purchased a case and Power Supply over there. |

Total weight, probably around 25-30kg. That's no computer, that's a space station! Seriously, I have a 2U server + 4U DAS rack in front of me with 15 drives in it with a total weight of 27kg. Are you sure you've got the weight right? That can have some big implications when it comes to shipping costs. |

| 1246532 | 2011-12-01 02:44:00 | Yea she is a bit of a beast alright. The case itself is 16kg, the cpu cooler is just shy of 1kg, a good number of drives in there... and other stuff :) I was planning to take out the HDDs and take them over myself more carefully. Hmm stripping it down and mailing the parts over individually might be an idea. Ultimately I would like to sell it here and purchase a new one over there, but due to the price etc of it, I doubt anyone would be interested. It is on TradeMe at the moment, but it isn't getting much interest. People who spend that much $$ usually build their own... Cheers for all the input, food for thought. |

| 1246534 | 2011-12-01 04:47:00 | Disassemble it - size will be a big problem for the high cost, but if you have a weighty case that won't help. No matter what you do\spend though, I would definitely disassemble it: Read this: www.badcaps.net Especially this: www.badcaps.net In fact that might put you off shipping the thing at all!! |
