1245810 2011-11-27 05:26:00 I am an infrequent Church goer, but when I do I am told of God, Jesus and The Holy Ghost. I have yet to find out who the Holy Ghost is.
Can anyone enlighten me?

1245812 2011-11-27 06:29:00 AFAIK, the Holy Ghost is part of the Roman Catholic doctrine. Other forms of Christianity do not recognize it in the same way.

Wikipedia states:
The Christian doctrine of the Trinity defines God as three divine persons (Greek: ὑποστάσεις):[1] the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. The three persons are distinct yet coexist in unity, and are co-equal, co-eternal and consubstantial (Greek: ὁμοούσιοι). Put another way, the three persons of the Trinity are of one being (Greek: οὐσία).[2] The Trinity is considered to be a mystery of Christian faith.

The Holy Spirit as God (en.wikipedia.org)

From: www.geocities.com
The Holy Spirit is God, but it is not a separate entity, yet still an equal member of a triune God. It is simply the presence and power of God Himself. Nowhere in the Bible is the Holy Spirit ever said to be an equal member of a trinity. Nobody ever prays to it, nobody ever talks to it, none of the New Testament writers ever send greetings from the Holy Spirit. Even when theologians decided that Jesus was God in 325 AD, they did not include the Holy Spirit until fifty-six years later in 381 AD. The Holy Spirit is how God extends His presence and power to His creation.

1245816 2011-11-27 09:27:00 Sounds about as likely as a virgin giving birth!
I believe that Jesus was a space man, the star which guided the wise men to the manger was a space ship or helicopter. When Jesus was crucified he faked death (as Indian fakirs can do), and the space ship collected him from the cave, then returned him later for a few days to complete his mission.

I often wonder how Mary managed to explain things to Joseph.

On another level the Holy Ghost - and the Bible - can be seen as mythology.

But when considering that a huge proportion (over half (www.wnd.com)) of Americans believe the Bible as literal truth, and that the USA is the supreme military super power, and that there is a world-wide increase in Islamic fanaticism... mix this with Iran soon to fill the gap which American will leave vacating Iraq... plus Israeli Jewish craziness... well... it ain't so funny anymore. :groan:
