Chorus have finally fibre enabled our street and I have been able to upgrade to fibre broadband this week. Woohoo! On the whole the upgrade has gone pretty well but I have one problem getting my Synology NAS back online to the internet. I have the standard Chorus ONT Type 300, and VRV9517 modem with firmware 6.00.13build01. Everything worked fine with my NAS on the old ADSL Thomson modem. The DSM admin requires ports 5000, 5001 to be available. I can log in fine on my internal home network. I have done all the Synology NAS Ez-Internet wizard setup which is supposed to set up the router and check the connections. It runs fine and passes all tests. However (a) it doesn't seem to actually update the router. I am using the "Port Mapping" under NAT settings, and I have manually added the port mapping rules (which I think I have correct) for ports 5000-5001. Secondly, (b) it doesn't work when I try to access externally, using either the IP address or the dynamic DDNS name I have. I have spent a couple of hours and can't work out what I'm doing wrong. Never had a problem before (its been running for several years on the old ADSL modem). Appreciate any suggestions, ways of debugging - anyone else have experience with these new Spark modems? |
