1464639 2019-10-24 04:05:00 Our 2 hectare slice of paradise has got too hard to keep up to spec, so we are moving to town (Pukekohe). We have been using wireless internet for many years and will be stepping up to a fibre connection.

I'm not up to the play on what's available in regards to speeds, best ISP's, bang for buck etc. We probably don't need super fast speeds, but would probably have the need to support an occasional 2 or 3 users. Our house will have connections right through, so is there anything we need to watch out for? or good deals to be had. I am astonished at the number of ISP's available.

Oooh.....the big smoke! Actually it is now.
My brother is with Voyager, unlimited data, 100mbps speed, and landline for my mum, $80 a month.

Flat out speed as well would make it $139 a month.

Less with no landline of course...

1464642 2019-10-24 17:30:00 I would hate that, we live in the middle of a 10acre paddock and our town has less than a 1000 people most of the time. It swells by several thousand each school holidays so I try to avoid going in as much as possible. No fibre either just good old 4G gary67 (56)

Son used to drive from Waiuku to Henderson to work, at first it took just under an hour, at the end it took 2 hours.
He doesn't have to now, just as well.

BIL goes from Huntly to Hamilton to work, used to be 15 mins, he now goes the back way as that is a nightmare too now.
So yes, Big Smoke.

1464644 2019-10-24 22:25:00 It is the same Fibre etc no matter which ISP you pick so just go with whichever deal takes your fancy. I set my daughters lot up with Vodafone in Pukekohe 18 months or so ago and have had no complaints. CliveM (6007)
1464645 2019-10-28 08:39:00 Providers might also add other features, such as content, free. Currently Spark Light Box is cheap or free, as is Spotify. Sparks's upcoming fiber plans includes free Netflix on their unlimited plan I think. kahawai chaser (3545)
