1470285 2020-07-16 20:18:00 I have been studying the Covid crisis ever since it started in Wuhan and I think that if we open the borders even a bit, thousands maybe tens of thousands will die, Covid is serious disease and even when the symptoms seem to have stopped and the virus seems inactive, the damage done to internal organs is long term and life altering no matter what the age of the victim.

Brain, heart, stomach, blood carrying tubes of all sizes, lungs are all long term damaged and the virus just seems to invade all available vulnerable cells in the human body and turn them into covid cells indiscriminately.

There also seems to be long term mental issues from the brain damage, you don't want to catch this disease.

Very contagious person to person and also airborne.

The National party will try to open up the country before we have a vaccine and we will have a disaster like in Victoria and the rest of the world.

1, We will not have a vacine in the forseeable future.
2.How do you explain the fact that Sweden, which has had no lockdown, now has a covid death rate about the same as ours.
3. Why does the News Media world wide now mostly report the very high infection rate rarher than the low death rate?
4. You claim to know what the National party will do and you may well be correct but that looks like mind reading to me.

Bring it on Doubt it. Some people need to lighten up, the picture I posted of Collins -- That's what wrong with the world today, to many people are stuck up and so PC that there's no humor anymore in their lives.

.

Yes.
Because they can't report a death rate so they stick with the cases instead.

Big drama over not much really. This was the reason for trashing the economy??

I could not agree more. If you lack a sense of humor the problem is yours. It does go both ways though not just opinions you agree with.

2) Please explain Sweden's TOTAL covid deaths compared to NZ.
NZ isnt Sweden. Just as NZ isnt the US. Its like saying compare impact of covid in the US to compared to NZ
Compare Sweden to its neighbors .

fortune.com
"Sweden defends its COVID strategy even as the mortality rate surpasses the U.S. and herd immunity remains elusive"

3) Death rate isnt the only factor to worry about . Lets not forget what happened in Italy & New York
Hospitals completely over-run with covid cases , hospital staff DYING after doing their job , countries building temp hospitals to cope
No one knows what the death rate for Pacific Islanders & Maori will be , it may not be the same for every race
Also, death isnt the only bad thing with covid , some survivors will have serious ongoing conditions ( damage to the lungs & throat etc )
The media is about making money & market share, its not about unbiased reporting & facts . Thats nothing new :)

1470292 2020-07-16 22:24:00 Anyone who thinks that Covid is being exaggerated needs to read more News. We are the only country that's probably got it under control, for now anyway, all the other countries who did anything other than lockdown, completely, early, are paying the price or are going to.

There is no such thing as a few isolated cases, as soon as community transmission starts the place involved is in big trouble, you just watch Victoria and NSW, I think it's going to get away from them and they will have to do a complete lockdown for extended periods or face lots of deaths.

Of course the National Party will open the borders they are pro business at all costs, no mind reading involved.

My understanding is that Sweden is having to lockdown now as their cases are rising.

1470293 2020-07-16 22:40:00 About ten years ago I had the opportunity to talk to Gerry Brownlee, he was guest of honour at an opening ceremony, and we had biscuits and tea afterwards.

I could observe him at close range interacting with others and eventually I talked to him.

He was ill at ease and uncomfortable in his own skin, didn't want to interact with the 'plebs' who admittedly were a motley crew, and he just wanted to get away and go anywhere than where he was, as far as I could see.

Surprisingly he was shorter than me but very stout and when I started to talk to him he resented my familiar tone, lol.

Typical management type and no common touch. (Typical Christchurch middle-management type)

Anyone whose got an eating/weight problem like him shouldn't be running anything let alone the country.

Some of my customers we have a good laugh and some I have to adjust how I speak with them. There's a couple of people I deal with all the time, one in particular (cant type most of what he says as it would be all ***** ) but he gives me a hard time and I give it right back. :D
