| 1471315 | 2020-08-22 10:27:00 | As a simple analogy, if you imagine that the molecules etc which go to make up a brain's structure are composed of slinky toys arranged in complex ways and also interwoven together a prion disease will return the 'slinky molecules' back to the original simple form of the slinky and will not allow reassembly. A catastrophic event for anyone who has a brain that is infected. Prions are also very robust and cannot be destroyed by cooking hence the cautious approach. |
