1465514 2019-12-11 01:22:00 Ok, thanks very much guys. I just hadn't seen a modem like this which physically plugs itself in at the base. Anyway, I will just sign up and as usual. Thanks.

Plugs in? Looks like it might just be screwed down to the cabinet to stop it falling over.

1465515 2019-12-11 02:30:00 The router has a plastic base which clips into the bottom of the router case and this enables it to stand upright. You can see it in your photo. I tried to pull mine apart last week when packing it away in the original box until I realised it was meant to be packed away intact. John H (8)

1465517 2019-12-11 17:40:00 All new houses typically have a home hub in the garage now with the router in, we do too even though I built the house, all our data points and tv points link back to there as well as the alarm. Wifi still works fine even though its in a metal box gary67 (56)

I imagine it'd work even better if it wasn't! :horrified

1465520 2020-01-03 06:05:00 I'm just getting Fibre this month - awaiting Chorus - and I've been given the bog standard modem.

Are there advantages in going to (say) PBTech and buying an off the shelf brand name to get better results?

Anybody using those plug in boosters to boost range?

1465521 2020-01-03 06:21:00 Go with the Spark free modem and see how it works for you. If you then have problems spend some money and upgrade. Of course if you have unlimited funds go for it but practicaly the free version works just fine for most people. CliveM (6007)
