1471135	2020-08-30 05:25:00	Actually there is an article about Taiwan today in the news. 24 million people, 500 odd cases, 7 deaths. No lockdowns, economy increased 2 %. So no, it isn't necessary. They didn't just ignore it www.cnbc.com If you want the details.... i think they where one of the few countries that slammed the border shut early on. there is a few countries that have done it right. and your absolutely right in that lockdowns are not required if you keep it out. the problem here was they refused to close the border, relying on a little card saying to self isolate, which was blatantly ignored. the govt didn't choose to go into lockdown, that was forced on us due to the woefully under prepared health sector whose testing and tracing capability was proven to be hopeless. there is no way they could have kept up with the amount of cases that would have been arriving and spreading it. even now the border has been proven to be leaky because govt cannot get the job done right. the other factor is how complaint the society is. just look at how much lockdown is ignored in nz, that would never be tolerated in taiwan. just a difference of culture. i've said it before, lockdowns where easily avoidable if govt was doing its job right.	tweak'e (69)

Several times a day, a representative of the local district’s office phoned her to check in and thank her for doing her part. “They have professionals running the show,” she said. “These are people who have trained for years for this.” “There was easy access to almost free and rapid testing centers,” said Han Jin, founder of a start-up in Taiwan called LucidPix. “At every building, including restaurants, gyms and offices, they check your temperature — and you cannot enter without face masks.” There’s also enforcement for those who don’t follow the rules. There are huge fines if people are caught not wearing masks in designated areas, such as the subway, and for breaking quarantine. Emanuel explained that everyone in Taiwan has a health-care record tied to their name, which allows their doctors and nurses to access their medical information online. That gives health officials near real-time data on hospital visits. The trouble is its been proven time and time again, some people are plain bloody Stupid, and so far up themselves with the opinion of Self Righteous that the WONT stay at home and self isolate, they have the "It doesn't apply to me" Attitude .
