1464938 2019-11-14 04:15:00 I have a paid copy of this program that I use occasionally. Today I tried to print a drawing sheet (cabling.vec) that I last used about a year ago. I got an error message "Printer Error (Code 1)". The Printer is an Epson XP-640, its manual suggests turning it off and on, which didn't do anything. I have closed the cad program and reopened it to no effect. Its "Assist" button should open their website (www.vectorengineer.com) but the response is "Account Suspended".

Does anyone know how I can print the drawing, and further is vector engineering still alive and well?

1464939 2019-11-14 07:00:00 Will it print a standard test page, or something else like a one page word document OK ?

looking up the provided code 1 there is nothing listed, whats the full complete code.

1464940 2019-11-15 00:22:00 Thanks for your comments WainuiTech, one of the first things that I had done was to print a word document, which was fine.

The error message is a panel:

"VectorEngineer
Triangle with !
Printer error (Code 1) and an OK button"

Since then I have saved it as a .bmp file which prints perfectly but instead of A4 I get it approx. 130mm x 100mm.

1464941 2019-11-15 06:54:00 Could possibly may be a Program related error code and not the actual printer since a basic word document works OK.

Looking at the Epson codes listed HERE (files.support.epson.com) None actually say as described.

Cant think straight tonight just got back from Vanuatu and I'm :sleep:sleep:sleep had a quick look and reply to original post from there.

1464942 2019-11-15 08:30:00 Is your cad program up to date? Have seen print problems with cad programs fixed by applying the latest updates to the program.
Also check to see if you have the latest version of your printers drivers as well.

1464943 2019-11-15 19:35:00 Thanks Jeff, I don't know how up to date the program is. The .exe file is version 1.0.0.0 dated 27/12/03, but as far I can tell was downloaded and installed on 29/3/18. I cannot get a newer version because their website responds with "Account Suspended". The printer drivers were last updated a few months ago, but I have just updated them again. It it has done nothing to improve the situation. Brucem (8688)
1464944 2019-11-15 21:24:00 Just looking at the site, being suspended usually means one of two things.

The Site has been closed and no longer active OR the owner has not paid their bill and its been temporally disabled until its paid again.

Being the last active version was 2009 I would suspect its now closed and no longer active.

Depending on what version of windows you are using, if its W10 then you may also find the program is no longer compatible with W10 as it is quite old. Have you tried completely uninstalling the Program and reinstalling it ?

Since the Printer works OK normally - suggest the problem is with the program or some other system files in the computer.

1464945 2019-11-23 08:52:00 I have finally managed to print something reasonable, by saving as a.bmp file, then cropping it using Windows Ink Workspace with Full Screen snip, saving it and then printing! Thanks everyone for your help & suggestions. When I have a bit more time I will look at another hopefully low cost cad programme. Brucem (8688)
