1488441 2022-09-25 20:21:00 I have Win11 installed on my 'unsupported' hardware for quite a while now and it's working just 'fine'! :D

I understand that update 22H2 is out now, but it doesn't show up on my above 'unsupported' hardware machine.

Does it mean that I will never get it or it will show up later ?

1488442 2022-09-25 20:40:00 Same on mine. You will have to reinstall W11 again I believe. Maybe Wai can tell us if it's possible to to do an update from the ISO file.. paulw (1826)

On checking this PC which is capable theres a message in the updates (wasn't there a few days ago)

11403

This is what the "Learn More" has to offer learn.microsoft.com (learn.microsoft.com)

So I'll get the ISO and try it on a non-compliant machine and let ya know.

1488445 2022-09-26 22:16:00 Okay, update to this.

You CAN upgrade to 22H2 on an existing Unsupported install.

You cant simply download the ISO mount it and upgrade from that, it will decline it saying unsupported. What you can do is download a ISO, create a USB Drive using Rufus and make sure all the bypass options are ticked, ( see pic Below) then with the USB drive in the machine, open it and double click Setup -- It will then go through and upgrade to the 22H2 leaving all data, programs etc intact. ( basically the same as a repair install.). Note: last two options in Rufus you can leave unticked if you wish.

You may also be able to do some trickery within the registry and use the unaltered ISO, but often found that doesn't work correctly, using Rufus generally does..

1488446 2022-09-26 23:16:00 Thanks, wainuitech.

Where to download the 22H2 ISO, from the same site using the Windows Media Creation Tool?

I never used Rufus. Your help is needed and will be appreciated ...

I used the small bat file in one of the post here a while ago to create the bootable USB to install Win11. This old fella is getting too forgetful nowadays.

Its quite easy, limited steps.

1. Download the Windows 11 ISO, you can get it from the third option where it says "Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO)" www.microsoft.com
2. Download Rufus rufus.ie Scroll down a little till you get to Rufus 3.20
3. Make sure you have a USB drive in the computer - this WILL be wiped, run Rufus, click on "Select":
11407
4. Navigate to where you put the W11 ISO and select it, leave the rest as is, click "Start".
5. Check the Boxes as required. Generally I use all of them. Click OK
11408
6. You'll get a warning saying its going to wipe the drive - click OK, sit back and watch it do its thing.

Once finished, make sure the drives in the computer you want to upgrade, open the USB drive, double click "Setup" follow on screen.

1488448 2022-09-27 03:01:00 Thanks, wainui. Am I right to say that this USB drive can be used to install a fresh copy of Win11, as well? bk T (215)
1488449 2022-09-27 03:13:00 Thanks, wainui. Am I right to say that this USB drive can be used to install a fresh copy of Win11, as well? Yep sure can :) The only differences are the "requirements" have been bypassed. ( if you tick all the boxes on the last step) wainuitech (129)
