1488267 2022-09-13 22:42:00 While cleaning out my backup USB drive I found some SWF video files, from way back.
I can play the audio on Mint, but not the video.
I tried them on Windows 10, & 11 and got a notification "Your current security settings do not allow this action"!
The security settings are default, out of the box. The files used to play on WXP & W7 with no problem.
What is going on?

Flash is no longer available to download since December 31, 2020, and Adobe starts blocking Flash content from running altogether on January 12, 2021. The company recommends that you uninstall Flash entirely as a matter of security.1

A couple of files generated a notification requesting permission to go on the Internet with a button to deny it. Works very well.

I have a number of SWF files also that I would like to be able to view.

I’m running Mint 19.3 but can’t find anything in the Synaptic Packet Manager that suggests it is a stand alone programme that can handle SWF Files.

Can you help me out there?

Thanks.

Does swffileplayer work on Linux Mint? The installation looks very Windows to me.

Yes, I've heard of VLC working with swf files but despite using VLC all the time I have never managed to get it to open and play a swf file in Windows or Linux.

1488275 2022-09-15 07:37:00 Flasharch (snapcraft.io) supposedly works, my Mint PC is down for maintenance so I can't test it.

Also Gnu Gnash is supposed to have a Firefox flash plugin for Linux distro's

11390 BM, is that the same flash file you had a while back that was having similar problems , The name seems to ring a bell for some reason ?
