1488235 2022-09-09 23:53:00 I have Virtualbox running in Linux Mint Cinnamon 20.3. When I start the VM a black screen is displayed instead of installing from the iso. Everything seems to be correct & supported. Any ideas?11389 mzee (3324)
1488236 2022-09-10 02:30:00 Assume you have done it correctly ?? Follow these instructions itsfoss.com

You may need to Disable 3D Acceleration in Virtual Box #2 here -->www.thewindowsclub.com Thats assuming the linux Version of VB is the same as Windows.

I know with other types of VM's you have to tweak settings to get some functions working.

Edited: looking at the picture may not be the problem, Black screen as described in the question is not the same as not loading / stalling.

Assume Virtualization is enabled in BIOS of Host Computer ??

1488237 2022-09-10 05:54:00 I have given up on it! If I use windows 11 it gets a black screen full of code, can not install.
If I use Windows 10, installs Ok, display is Ok, but no USB or shared files.
Both iso's work well in Qemu/Kvm, but it does not support internal drives, a security thing, this is the only reason I was interested in Virtualbox. The only thing is to remember is not to enable a VPN in the host.

Might be more to do with the VM program (Virtual box) than the OS installing.

Always found Virtualbox a bit "selective" in its operation :)

1488239 2022-09-10 12:54:00 Are you using Virtualbox that you installed from Oracle directly, or the crippled version in Linux Mint repository?
Have you installed Virtualbox Extension Pack as well?

Is where to get the right one

1488240 2022-09-10 22:01:00 If I use windows 11 it gets a black screen full of code, can not install. One other thing, does the computer meet the W11 requirements ?? Doesn't matter if you run W11 in a VM or as a Actual install, the default ISO wont install if the hardware requiremets are not met. wainuitech (129)
1488241 2022-09-11 00:57:00 Just replicated the exact same error on Linux, with VB and installing W11 When you 1st open /create the VM, you HAVE to be really quick and press any key when windows asks.

It starts to load from the Windows media (DVD or USB) , and flashes along the top (for about 2 seconds) of VB window the message "Press any key to boot from CD", if you don't you will get the exact error you posted in #1
