| 1487924 | 2022-08-20 12:14:00 | I have an HP Stream 11 Pro G3 notebook which needs the BIOS updating. It goes into a heavy sleep instead of powering off, and will not wake up until the battery is flattened, it will then restart when plugged in. I have experienced this problem with other HP's and an updated BIOS has cured it. This HP originally had W10 installed, but has been on Linux for some time now. The Update files are in Windows format .exe, is there a way of activating the file, or do I have to install W10 to do the deed? Its not much trouble as I won't need to set the Windows up, and I have a backup of the Linux. | mzee (3324) | ||
| 1487925 | 2022-08-20 21:52:00 | The MB manufacturers have the bios...and normally more than one method. I have never done such a thing via windows, ever. Usually a disk (usb now I imagine) that you'd boot off and then select the BIOS file. | piroska (17583) | ||

I have installed W11 Pro which is working well, so will try to update it. |

Good luck in doing that ;) those cheap low powered Notebooks like the HP Stream 11 Pro G3 , often use non big time manufactures. Which unlike Gigabyte, ASUS etc are either next to impossible to locate or they don't have the drivers anyway. That's why HP have them on their site. The last BIOS for that Board was F.22 Rev.A, Jan 31, 2018 and that was listed for W10. |

The last BIOS for that Board was F.22 Rev.A, Jan 31, 2018 and that was listed for W10. I installed W11 and then updated the BIOS to F.22 Rev.A. Removed W11 & reinstalled Mint Cinnamon 20.3, works perfectly, starts, shuts down, no problems! It seems that the small HP's 2017-2018 had this problem, including the expensive piece of junk Spectre 2 in 1 13. |

| 1487932 | 2022-09-03 02:35:00 | There also might be option in BIOS to update from USB. In that case you just put file on usb ( FAT32 formatted i guess) and run it in bios. But i've had problems with that option in my life like update stuck at 99% and almost bricked my MOBO :D. If it didn't have some superb recovery key combination it would be dead right now.
