1487877 2022-08-19 00:10:00 I downloaded Auslogics Duplicate File Finder some time ago and ran it yesterday for the first time to remove duplicate photo files which went ok. I didn't think to look for an update prior and did so afterwards but when opening the download (Firefox) got a message "operation did not complete successfully because the file contains a virus or potentially unwanted software". Anyone had this issue with Auslogics? bellbird (6169)
1487878 2022-08-19 01:25:00 Haven't used Auslogics for quite a while now as I have SSDs and don't wish to use the defrag program by mistake.

I can't comment on your problem but I use Ccleaner to find duplicate files. It seems to be OK.

1487880 2022-08-19 04:24:00 I'm fairly sure I would have downloaded it from the Auslogics website wainui and I would have done some research about the software. I installed it way back in March without a problem. Anyway I've now uninstalled it via Revo, run CCleaner and also MS defender quick scan. Wondering about trying to download it again because I found it easy to use, maybe via MS Edge or Chrome - unless your advice is not to. thanks bellbird (6169)
1487881 2022-08-19 06:18:00 Downloaded it www.auslogics.com Nod32 didn't throw any warnings, scanned the exe as well, nothing, installed it in Windows Sandbox there were two options to install other programs by them, "maybe" FF was picking those up as PUPS.

Note: I always download with a Download manager so the Browsers don't actually capture it. "Normally" if there's any suspects in the downloads Nod Soon grabs it.

1487882 2022-08-19 10:35:00 Thanks wainui for downloading and scanning the software. I installed only the Duplicate File Finder originally, none of the other options. I've downloaded the program again and everything is ok and hopefully no issues in the future when updating it. I checked out some free Download managers but would appreciate a suggestion for something basic. I don't have Nod32 just MS Defender. bellbird (6169)
1487883 2022-08-19 22:50:00 Thanks wainui for downloading and scanning the software. I installed only the Duplicate File Finder originally, none of the other options. I've downloaded the program again and everything is ok and hopefully no issues in the future when updating it. I checked out some free Download managers but would appreciate a suggestion for something basic. I don't have Nod32 just MS Defender. Download managers: I have tried a LOT of the free ones and gave up on them, they either only worked on certain sites or very inconsistant.

I Tried Internetdownload manager https://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/ Had tried it years ago, as well and brought it. Got the lifetime licence $40, and every so often it pops up theres a free upgrade. It does have a 30 day free fully working trial.

With movies ( for example) a button appears you can select the quality, and down it comes. For files the capture window opens you click download - and in it comes.

Just an update to previous Post, tried it on another PC and turned off the downloader, Edge blocked the program as well, but I suspect its the before mentioned causes.

1487884 2022-08-20 00:05:00 thanks wainui. So I downloaded Auslogics Duplicate File Finder in March, no issue with Firefox blocking it. Tried to update it this week and FF blocked it. Reinstalled the prog and no issue with FF. For you Edge blocked it when you tried it with downloader off. Will trial Internet Download Manager, it seems a sensible option. thanks again bellbird (6169)
1487885 2022-08-20 21:52:00 I thought Ccleaner had a duplicate file finder built in? I can't check as I got rid of it when it was bought out. gary67 (56)
