1487556 2022-07-24 04:52:00 Hi all ... just wondering whether cc cleaner is still good to use or is there a better free app to use that does the same thing ??

Have a laptop that's probably quite constipated and needs a good enema to bring it back to good health :)

TIA SP8's

1487557 2022-07-24 06:15:00 Ditched it ages ago when it was bought out. I just use Revo now gary67 (56)
1487558 2022-07-24 09:10:00 I mostly use Linux now so I don't bother with cleaners, as I hardly use Windows for anything, there aren't many temp files there anyway! Agent_24 (57)
1487559 2022-07-24 19:17:00 I start with MS Disk Clean-up. I then use Revo and then follow-up with CCleaner. CCleaner always finds extras that Disk- clean-up and Revo haven't cleaned. Bryan (147)

Or a registry.

But there are : Mostly the way the browser stores stuff and the likes of mlocate.
But easy to clean anyway with a simple terminal command. :-)

Just dont use any. Stop fiddling . :-)
MS actually did know a bit when they designed win10 , you dont NEED a clean up app.

Or , just use the build in "disk cleanup"
Avoid reg cleaners : snake oil .

1487562 2022-07-25 04:43:00 I use CCleaner and also Glary Utilities zealously. -the latter mainly when I update various applications. and need new Shortcuts. I am not confident to use Reg edit .
No problems with either

1487563 2022-07-26 08:26:00 I have been using Ashampoo WinOptimizer for a few years
and never had any problems with it. Also use Ccleaner.

There is an excellent cleaner for Linux called 'Stacer'.

1487565 2022-07-30 01:18:00 Hi all

To those who have been kind enough to answer my question ... Thanks !!

I haven't been doing much with computers for quite a while and at my age, I'm getting to old to keep up with all this sh!t ... seems as though things change every day and can't keep up.

Apart from using ESET which I have done for years, the only other thing I use is ABP ... if there's anything else, like Malware, spyware and the like that are considered "essential" to keep bugs and crap out, I'd appreciate guidance from those members I still remember as giving good sound advice. I must say that I haven't had very many problems and running Win 11 on 2 of my computers ... life seems a little dull with the days of Win95, 98 and Vista gone !!
