tmmb.co.nz Thanks king1,

Okay ladies and jellybeans :D Since this generous offer is made we should try and reinvent PF1 for when the lights do go out, nows a time to do something positive instead of waiting till to late or last minute rush. By all means if anyone has a better offer put it forward.

Took this upon myself --- I have been in contact with King1 and basically advised how we operate (or dont) :p Asked what we need to do etc. Obviously all suggestions post !!

1488643 2022-10-13 00:03:00 It looks good but I'm not sure copying the PressF1 section makes sense - Chat sure, but there's already the Computing and Technology section on TMMB.

I think it would make more sense just to use that for technical help, to avoid confusion? Otherwise there would be two sub-forums for basically the same thing.

1488644 2022-10-13 01:29:00 We need Jen as Moderator, we need a way to report SPAM and have it acted upon, (we don't need power-crazy mods as can be the case on many forums). I like how we have our own PC world block of two threads in TMMB. zqwerty (97)

It is a good point you make, I just thought some might like to keep the status quo as much as possible, but this way at least either option is available to you all and all bases are covered so to speak... It can evolve over time.

Yep we're happy to accommodate as required...

We use MyBB which seems to be quite similar to vBulletin, it has the usual warning and reporting post features as one might expect, so spam (and other indiscretions) can be reported. Our board rules are here tmmb.co.nz

I would envisage that you can provide, probably choose your own mods and will be largely self regulating - this could be one reason to keep your own forum for now I guess to enable this ...

I have only set up the sample forum for you to have a look through and see if it suits. Wainuitech sent me a PM explaining the impending doom hanging over you, and we have the capacity... It may not suit or something better may come along but at least you know there are options...

X2 but is Jen not paid by PCWorld for the role, on TMMB this wouldn't be the case?

1488649 2022-10-13 05:54:00 X2 but is Jen not paid by PCWorld for the role, on TMMB this wouldn't be the case?I've never been paid for my role as moderator. Chill and myself are volunteers. I've been moderating this forum for over 18 years now, in my own time, after business hours. So small tip: if a couple of you guys decide to do a throw-down during business hours, you would go unchecked until after business hours ;) - but please don't test my goodwill by trying this.

I appreciate (and flattered) that some of you have asked I continue my role as moderator, but 18 years is a long time so I will be hanging up my hat. This doesn't mean I won't join the new forum ... maybe with an alias username. :devil
