Hope it helps you understand how the science of the world's history. youtu.be Ken :) 2.4 Billion years ago  (give or take a day or two I suppose) and I note they got the decimal point in too. However, I would like to know what relevance this bit of Science Fiction has to Lyttletons outrageous 2.44mm rise in sea level? |

| 1488362 | 2022-09-25 20:37:00 | So many people don't seem to believe in science these days. You happen to be that person in this thread. I am just putting a link up for you to look at, maybe you may start to understand the tech and science behind all the thing you postulate are rubbish. Ken ;) |

| 1488364 | 2022-09-25 21:09:00 | Fixed for you B.M. And today the tide at Lyttelton will rise and fall 2010mm in 12 hours and no one will care. So a miserable 268.8mm rise in sea level over 120 years is hardly noteworthy. (Oh and I like the Decimal Point) ;) |

Do you know what a standard deviation is? You seem to be arguing that the 268.8mm is not possible for some reason. Do you have verified data to support your position? If not, a better approach might be to provisionally accept the value and then ask, what could be the reason for the rise? Follow this path and you might make some progress. |

| 1488367 | 2022-09-26 20:48:00 | It will take a few hundred years before anyone can be certain that the sea level has risen as per current doom porn predictions in the meantime we are just guessing. Even if the predictions are correct it is all slow enough for the human population to adapt and adjust to take account of any change. The whole climate change subject is a lot like a religion in that people believe their version of it and are also convinced that anyone who does not is wrong and is probably going to hell. I don't pretend to know what is right or wrong but then neither do you. |

That figure is an average of many measurements, B.M. Yes Im sure it is, so would you be good enough to share them with us? Do you know what a standard deviation is? Yes I do. Its a Mathematical Formula, mainly used by Statisticians to adjust certain parts of an equation to procure the result they want. You seem to be arguing that the 268.8mm is not possible for some reason. On the contrary, I am arguing it is irrelevant, regardless of decimal places. Do you realise that the tide in the Bay of Fundy can rise 16 metres so I dont know how your 268.8mm fits into things there? Do you have verified data to support your position? No, Im waiting for you to supply the calculations this discussion is based on. If not, a better approach might be to provisionally accept the value and then ask, what could be the reason for the rise? Oh I accept the value, but consider it irrelevant nonsense. Follow this path and you might make some progress. Yeah, right over the cliff. :) |

There's an exception : . . . people from Wellington know that everybody else is wrong, and they're already resident in hell . ;) |
