1488114 2022-08-29 21:16:00 It's because your file manager is not reporting the actual filesystem type correctly.

The one that says fuse is probably ExFAT or NTFS.
The ones that say msdos are probably FAT32

Install something like Gparted and look at the actual partition data.

Wouldn't it be better to repair any faults on the system, who knows what else may not be working / Reading correctly ??

Out of Interest, inserted a 1TB Flash drive into both a Windows and Linux PC (OS) Both read the drive the same exFAT ( which is what it is).

Linux 11379 and Windows 11380

Well three different Mint computers report back the same which begs the question as to how they could all be misreporting.

I'll try and find Gparted which isn't my favourite programme. :D

1488118 2022-08-30 03:07:00 Because it's a display bug in whatever file manager that Mint uses, not reporting the right text string for the filesystem type!!! gaaaaah!

Stick it in a Ubuntu machine and look at it with gnome-disk-utility or Gparted.

or just run fdisk and list partitions on the drive.

then you'll get the real answer.

Mint 21 displayed the ones I posted as they are.

Then I expect B.M. has an older version of Mint, and this is some bug which has since been fixed.

Very possible, some people don't like upgrading operating systems regardless of what the OS is. Often newer versions fix bugs (and create new ones sometimes) ;) wainuitech (129)

Let me assure you, B.M. does have an older version of Linux Mint. Ver19.3 if that matters. ;)

What’s more, seeing it works perfectly, I have no intention of fiddling with it.

OK, I’m a High Priest of the adage “If it ain’t Broken don’t Fix IT.” :)

Therefore, I’ll just settle for “FUSE” being something to do with Linux and the Disks File System.

1488123 2022-08-30 09:23:00 BM is it only the one drive that shows that format ??

If so agree prob not worth worrying about it. :)
