Nope .
A quick google tells me:
Magna Carta Libertatum drafted by Archbishop of Canterbury, Cardinal Stephen Langton, to make peace between the unpopular king and a group of rebel barons, promised the protection of church rights, protection for the barons from illegal imprisonment, access to swift justice, and limitations on feudal payments to the Crown .

Neither side stood behind their commitments, and the charter was annulled by Pope Innocent III .

After John's death, Henry III, reissued the document in 1216, stripped of some of its more radical content .
Short of funds, Henry reissued the charter again in 1225 in exchange for a grant of new taxes .
His son, Edward I, repeated the exercise in 1297, this time confirming it as part of England's statute law .

Magna Carta’s importance has often been overstated, and its meaning distorted .

It also has a very different legacy in the United States than it does in the United Kingdom, where only four of its original sixty-some provisions are still on the books .

Magna Carta is very old, but even when it was written it was not especially new . The practice of kings swearing coronation oaths in which they bound themselves to the administration of justice began in 877, in France .

It was confirmed nearly fifty times, but only because it was hardly ever honored .

1488054 2022-09-03 22:22:00 That somewhat flexible piece of political flim-flam has been well and truly superseded. The iron clad replacement is that the bountiful electoral promises are replaced swiftly by the post election evasion. The losing parties are exempt from this rule, they may indeed rescue some of the more populist eschewed policies.

1488055 2022-09-09 05:18:00 I see that "bishop" Brian's party is called "Freedom And Rights Coalition". FARC for short. It should be "Freedom And Rights Coalition Everywhere".

What about "Freedom And Rights Today!"

1488058 2022-09-13 01:04:00 In 1981, everyone used to "joke" about the "Halt All Racist Tours" protest group being renamed "Fight All Racist Tours"

1488059 2022-09-13 03:42:00 Can't remember who it was, but the pronounciation can be important. I remember after the 9/11 attacks, and one of our polititions made a speech, and I swore he declared war on Tourism, not terrorism. the_bogan (9949)
